Julie Danis
Honorary Consul of Liechtenstein to the Midwestern United States
Julie M. Danis is a creative communicator. She spent her business career in global marketing management and consumer insight research. She held executive marketing positions at PepsiCo, Frito-Lay and Mondelez International, and senior strategic planning positions at advertising agencies Foote, Cone & Belding (Chicago & London), and J. Walter Thompson.
Ms. Danis is a writer, essayist, and cultural commentator. As a business humorist, she wrote a column for the Chicago Tribune called "It's a Living," and contributed commentary to PRI’s Marketplace radio. Her essays have been published in the Huffington Post, More, and Life Reimagined. She was a writer for the award winning documentary film, The Girl Who Wore Freedom, which tells the story of D-Day from the perspective of those who lived through the liberation of Normandy and the American GI’s who liberated them.
For five years she was an adjunct lecturer in consumer insights at Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, Media Management, and Integrated Marketing Communications. She was faculty advisor for the Graduate Global IMC Asia Perspectives and Global Summer Residency programs.
Ms. Danis earned a B.S. in Human Development & Social Policy from Northwestern University, A.M. from University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration, and an M.B.A. from University of Chicago Booth School of Business. She has a certificate in Creative Writing from the University of Chicago, Writer’s Studio and a certificate in Improvisation from the Second City Conservatory.
Ms. Danis serves on the Goodman Theatre’s Board of Trustees and is the immediate past President. She has served on the board of SERRV International, a non-profit, fair trade organization, Mercy Home for Boys & Girls, and the American Cancer Society/Chicago Chapter. She sits on the Executive Committee of Northwestern University’s Council of 100.
Julie resides in Chicago with her husband, Paul Donahue, and is currently writing a solo play.
