The celebration of Liechtenstein’s tricentennial continued in the month of September by highlighting its commitment to the arts and its diverse culture. Young Liechtenstein violinist Sara Domjanic and US-based pianist Tanya Gabrielian played in Boston, Chicago, New York and Macon during a one-week concert tour which was organized by the Embassy with local support from its Honorary Consuls, Liechtenstein’s UN Mission as well as cultural organizations which made the five concerts possible.
In Boston the two musicians were accompanied by Marta Judson, Honorary Consul of Liechtenstein in Massachusetts. The performance as part of the “Dame Myra Hess” concert series in Chicago was facilitated by Paul Donahue, Honorary Consul in Illinois, and was broadcast live on the radio and online. A second concert in the “Windy City” took place in the recently opened concert hall at DePaul University. The Permanent Representative of Liechtenstein to the United Nations in New York, Ambassador Christian Wenaweser, was delighted to welcome guests to his residence before the duo traveled to Macon for its capstone performance at Wesleyan College for the season opener of the Macon Concert Association. This event was arranged by Dr. Bruce Allen, Honorary Consul in Georgia.
The musicians were enthusiastically received by the respective audiences which pleased Ambassador Jaeger: “These concerts on the occasion of Liechtenstein’s 300th anniversary were a unique opportunity to bring the country’s cultural heritage to our friends in the US.”.
